Renfrewshire Council Missing Share Scheme
Renfrewshire Council launched their Missing Shares scheme as a pilot program a few years ago to help address issues with essential repairs being held up when a majority of flat owners agreed to carry out the repair, but not all. These situations often left properties falling into a further state of disrepair, leading to more costly emergency repairs. Since it began, the scheme has provided financial support to many private owners and factors, helping them to proceed with necessary repairs.
Initially, the scheme was limited to older tenements built before 1919, as these were usually in poorer condition due to their age. Recently, this scheme has opened up to any fully privately owned flatted / tenement property. This means that a much wider audience could now potentially benefit from financial support to carry out repairs etc.
