Homeless Prevention Statistics Published
There were 42,442 approaches (from 40,038 unique households) in 2022-23. This is an increase of 2% compared to 2021-22 and 13% compared to 2020-21. Prior to the pandemic there had been a downward trend in the number of approaches. The latest figure is 33% lower than the start of data collection in 2014-15.
More generally the statistics demonstrate considerable variations across Scotland in the level of presentations, the nature of enquiries and outcomes. Developing a more consistent approach to service design and delivery and an improved understanding of what prevention services are achieving is likely to be a significant challenge as we move towards the proposed extension to prevention duties.
