Jim Hayton to retire from Scotland’s Housing Network
Jim joined the network in late 2019 after a long career with South Lanarkshire Council, having begun in the housing association movement with Dalmuir Park Housing Association in the early 80’s. After retiring from South Lanarkshire Council in 2010 Jim was the first Policy Adviser at ALACHO in 2012.
Jim will be sorely missed by colleagues and members at the network, henot only provides an exceptional service to our Private Sector Housing colleagues, but his knowledge within the wider housing sector is second to none. Jim always has wise counsel to share and an encyclopedic knowledge that he is happy to pass on. But professional skills and knowledge aside, Jim is a great gentleman, one of the good ones, he will be missed as a person as well as a professional. I am sure you will join me in wishing Jim a long, healthy and happy retirement.
Jim commented: “I have greatly enjoyed my time with SHN and have learned more about private sector housing issues than I thought possible, largely due to the expertise and knowledge of practitioners throughout Scotland’s councils, and their willingness to share that with myself and colleagues”.
Jim will be succeeded by his SHN colleague Brenda Tonner, who can be contacted at Brenda.Tonner@Scotlandshousingnetwork.org
