Scottish Government publishes Scottish Discretionary Housing Payment Guidance Manual
The Scottish Government published a Scottish Discretionary Housing Payment Guidance Manual on 27th March 2024. In the foreword the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice notes that tackling poverty and preventing homelessness are key priorities for the Government. They choose to provide financial assistance to those who need extra help with their housing costs, thereby reducing poverty, maintaining tenancies and preventing homelessness. The DHP scheme plays a crucial role in supporting low-income households. This manual is a tool for change, and a step towards a Scotland where everyone has the security of a safe and affordable home.
